A Prayer for the Nations on the New Earth

If we want to really grasp God’s heart for all the world, we can imagine what God said the world would look like in the future. An angel takes the apostle John in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and shows him the holy city, descending out of heaven from God in Revelations 21. He describes its dimensions, how it sparkles with precious stone and gold streets, and how twelve angels guard the city walls. The glory of God and the Lamb create light, so there is no longer any need for light from the sun. Kings of nations on this new earth will travel to this city. The gates will remain open, and those whose names are written in the Book of Life will find the leaves for  the healing of nations in this place.

Try reading through all of Revelations 21 in your Bible.

Then pray, imagining this vision of heaven on earth:

Lord, help me to imagine what John the apostle saw. I can see how the city sparkles with precious stone and gold streets, with twelve angels guarding the city walls. Kings of nations on this new earth will travel to the city that John saw in Revelations. Which kings from which nations will travel there? Lord, it says that all the nations will be there. The gates will remain open, and those whose names are written in the Book of Life will find the leaves for the healing of nations in this place.

God, may the people that I love, and the people that you will let me love in the future, from many nations, be written in the Book of Life. Thank you for the leaves of healing. Come back soon, Jesus, so that this reality of the fullness of your kingdom can come quickly.
