Yes, click above to watch! Now we know. What happens in China doesn’t stay in China.
It’s time to up our missional intelligence about the interconnected world we live in.
Chances are, you’ve got unplanned stay-at-home time like you’ve never had before.
So now’s the time to read that book, watch that vlog, learn that thing that we know will make us (and our families) deeper, more effective people of purpose.

The truth is, you—and your family—could become more globally savvy people during your stay-at-home time.
Welcome to a series called The Global Stay-At-Home Guide.
In this first post, I’ll share FIVE THINGS you can do to get smarter— to increase your missional intelligence (what I call your MQ). Most include free resources tied to Across the Street and Around the World: Following Jesus to the Nations in Your Neighborhood…and Beyond .
1. First, read the book.
If you own it, and haven’t read it yet, read it! Or you can check it out by reading the First Chapter Free. (If you have it, read it, and love it, forward this blog to a friend!).
I promise you’ll be inspired to start trying something purposeful right where you live.
It’ll feel like hanging out with me for a few hours with a cozy cup of chai. Hey, you can even listen instead, with those in your household. (Right now the Audiobook is free with an Audible trial).
You’ll understand deep, foundational missions concepts quickly, tucked into easy-to-read, story-based chapters by topic. You won’t have to read a bunch of thick, theological, academic books to talk intelligently about missions here and abroad.
2. Take a Fun Personality Quiz
Sometimes we think only certain types of people are made to serve others across the street or abroad. But it takes all kinds of people and it may not be what you think.
Maybe you need to know that YOU and the way God made YOU could be just what the world needs.
Find out what motivates you to make a difference in the world. Take the fun quiz What Kind of Global Goer Are You? and find out if you’re a Bleeding Heart, an Adventure Traveler, a Strategic Thinker, an Obedient Disciple, or a Meaning and Purpose Person.
By the way, I’m a Strategic Thinker, with a wing of Meaning and Purpose, and a dash of Adventure Traveler!
What are you and what about the description most relates to you? Write me back here.
Share the personality quiz on social media. Compare with your friends’ results.
Give it to others in your home to see their results. Dream together!
3. Assess Yourself (and your significant others)
What’s it gonna take for you to be ready to share Jesus with your neighbor, your co-worker, or someone from another country?
Check out the free Go to Grow Test, a fifty-question assessment tool that lists fifty things most prepared goers have put into consistent practice in their daily lives. It’s for going around the world AND across the street, so everyone in your household can do it.
Find out where you land on the Grow to Go scale. You might be a Starter, a Grower, or a Goer (who’s always growing).
After you answer the questions, make sure to enter your e-mail to have the questions e-mailed to you. That way, you can learn from your answers. Questions match each chapter in Across the Street and Around the World so you can make a plan on how to grow.
4. Get Healing on the Inside, so You Can Give on the Outside
The biggest thing I see that keeps people from living a life of purpose? Inner issues that wreck and distract the soul, so that you can’t operate in wholeness.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get wholeness in your inner being. I’m giving out the bonus Chapter 13: Praying for Inner Healing free.
This e-book bonus chapter (previously offered to those who pre-ordered the book) is a case study of Sariah, who struggled with anxiety and prayed for transformation. Pray the crafted prayers along with Sariah, ask God the list of questions, listen to the Spirit of God, and experience how Jesus can heal your own soul.
This is a practical, simple guide to praying for inner healing, so feel free to send it to a friend too, or pray with those around you.
5. Get a Global Perspective from Scripture
Follow a customized five-day YouVersion Bible Reading Plan. There’s one called Across the Street and one called Around the World. Or check out an interview I did on Bible Gateway, and dive into the Bible online. Scripture speaks.
So there you go. Five things to do to make good global use of your stay-at-home time. Grow globally smarter by reading (or listening with your family) Across the Street and Around the World. Find out your global personality. Assess yourself with the Grow to Go Test. Pray for inner healing. And do a five-day family devotional to get a biblical global perspective.
See you next time on the Global Stay-at-Home Guide with creative ways to give your child the world (at home), and after that, a great list of vlogs, blogs and books, how to run an online book club or Discovery Bible Study, and how to pray online so it’s not boring with a group, and how to go across the street and around the world (from home).
